Throwing Something Together

I had been running all morning and it was time to pick up Whitney from work.  I knew she'd be hungry for lunch.  Many times in the past I've stopped at McDonald's and picked up some nuggets and fries, but since I found out what actually goes into a McNugget, I won't do it!  I wanted to come home and eat, so we could stick to our whole foods diet.  We walked in but I had no plan.  So I improvised!  I opened a can of pinto beans.  Whitney loves them and I figured I could flavor them up somehow. … [Read more...]

Making Fresh Vegetable Juice

NIK_7168

Fresh vegetable juice is one of the best things you can put in your body. The juice feeds your body on the cellular level. Look how easy it is to make a super … [Read more...]

February was an interesting month, and there isn't much to tell about my health journey, other than it was difficult to eat right!  Carl was let go from his job because of cut-backs, and so he was out of work for almost a month.  If you lose your job and know you'll be working again in a month, you can get lots accomplished around the house, and catch … [Read more...]

Makin’ Homemade Sauerkraut

P1020360b

I know I've been a little quiet on my blog lately -- lots going on since my hubby lost his job.  I've been wanting to write about my sauerkraut making, and so here I am!  I found online a contraption for making it, and ordered one several weeks ago.  I've been reading online about fermented (cultured) foods, and how healthy they are, and so I was determined to give sauerkraut a try.  It turned out so delicious!  We call it "Happiness" because it makes us happy to eat it!  I wish you could taste … [Read more...]
