Homemade Granola

And pumpkin seeds... aren't they beautiful?

I love granola but prefer homemade to the store bought stuff, so I haven't had it for a while!  Today I decided to make a double batch.  I bet it's been at least a couple of years since I've made granola. It's really not difficult, and the recipe can be adapted to include whatever you like or have on hand. Here's what I came up with … [Read more...]

My Hubby’s Lunch

Here's everything: His smoothie, sandwich, peanuts & raisins, a banana, and some baby carrots. I also make him a travel mug of organic fair trade coffee from Trader Joe's.

Kalechips2

Okay, I know what you're thinking.  Kale Chips?  Yuck.  Well, I guess these are just something you'd have to experience to know how yummy they really are.  I made them once before, and they were very good, but this last recipe I tried is a winner.  They have no real cheese at all, but have a cheesy flavor from the combination of ingredients.  Carl says they are addictive, and he ate almost a whole dehydrator tray of them!  Let me tell you how I made them... First, take a bunch of curly leaf … [Read more...]

Time In The Kitchen

My friend Robin was one of the first people to inspire me to eat whole foods.  I remember visiting her one day and she showed me how she made her own whole grain flour with a grain mill.  I was amazed.  I had never seen grains of whole wheat before!  I was inspired.  Another way she inspired me (she probably doesn't even know this!) is she told me one day, "I need to spend some time in the kitchen."  I didn't really know exactly what she meant.  Did she mean she needed to clean up the dishes? … [Read more...]
